CapEd offers Overdraft Protection options if you write a check, make a debit card purchase, or set up an automatic withdrawal and you don't have funds to cover the transaction.
Overdraft Protection
Overdraft Protection allows you to link your CapEd savings account or line of credit to your checking account to prevent declines or insufficient fund fees by automatically transferring funds to your checking account. You can request in writing to have your checking account linked to your savings account as a source of overdraft protection. You can apply online or in person for a Line of Credit, which is subject to credit approval, fees, and interest.
Courtesy Pay
Courtesy Pay allows you to overdraw your account for a $27 fee per overdraft. To qualify, you must be at least 18 years old and have an active checking account in good standing. CapEd offers two coverage options – Standard Courtesy Pay and Extended Courtesy Pay.
Standard Courtesy Pay
Standard Courtesy Pay covers overdrafts caused by:
- Checks, automatic withdrawals, Bill Pay transactions, and recurring debit card transactions
Extended Courtesy Pay
Extended Courtesy Pay requires your consent. This extended privilege covers overdrafts caused by:
- All items listed for Standard Courtesy Pay, and
- Everyday debit card transactions
- ATM transactions

How Can I Avoid Courtesy Pay Fees?
Download the CapEd Mobile Banking App!
Download the CapEd Mobile Banking App to access your account conveniently on your phone and view your balance.
Track your Actual Balance and Available Balance in your Savings Account
Keep an eye on both your actual account balance and available balance. The actual balance is the amount of money in your account at any given time, while the available balance reflects how much you can spend, considering deposits and pending payments. If you spend more money than you have as sufficient funds in your available balance, you will overdraft your account.
Set up eBanking Alert Notifications
You can personalize your account notifications for multiple alerts of your choosing. The Balance and Insufficient Funds alerts are especially helpful for managing your money.
To set up these alerts, log into eBanking on a mobile device or desktop. Under Tools in the navigation menu, select Alerts and then select Accounts. You will see a list of account alerts you may toggle on and off. For each alert, you have 3 different delivery options, including SMS, Email, or Push Notifications. Make your selections, then save your preferences and you're done!
We've Got You Covered with Courtesy Pay Forgiveness
